Last day of Pennies for Patients will be Wednesday, February 29th! Our class is doing a great job…keep them coming if you are able too! A big thank you to parents and students who have donated, this class is very generous and giving! Be proud of your child for sharing their piggy banks!

Homework is due back Monday February 20th! If your child is not getting a homework folder sent home that means I still have not received last weeks. Please return as soon as possible!

When your child is writing I ask that you have them use “inventive spelling”. It does not have to be spelled right, but ask them to sound it out and write how they think it is spelled. As first grade sneaks up on us I try to have the students become more independent when it comes to their school work. Yes, I do help them if needed. First grade is a fast pace and requires much more independence. So we are working on that in class. Attached is the D'Nealian-style alphabet, please check your child’s handwriting and make sure that their letters are being formed and written correctly.

Some things we have learned this week:
  • Telling time-by 5’s
  • Addition
  • Letter Jj-What sound does it make? Things that start with Jj?
  • Science- What happens to oil, water, and food coloring when combined?
  • Jumping Mice-What color are they? Where do they live? How far can they jump? What do they look like?
  • Plays-Missoula Theatre
  • Looking at People-People from around the world, how are we different?
  • We are reading Junie B. Jones and that Meanie Jim’s Birthday as a class. Ask your child about the first couple of chapters we have read!

There will be a performance to the Little Mermaid, go support Marcus…he got a part! The play will be Saturday, February 18 @ 3:00 and 7:00 -Adults $3/children $1.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
